Mark and I have had a few ups and too many downs in the past few months, so we decided it was time to run away from it all. We didn't get very far, but a couple of days staying at the Zanzibar and going round Hastings, Rye and Bexhill turned out to be exactly what we needed. It was even sunny! I never knew there were so many great retro clothing and furniture shops there, and the fishing boats on Hastings beach will be great inspiration for some boys tees (if I get on the case!). We also got to see Iain M. Banks do a talk about his latest book, Surface Detail, at the De La Warr Pavillion - geeky joy in an amazing building, with a great photography exhibition on there too (see 'Bonnie' below).
